On a more personal note, with all this recent arguing about health care reform, I am going to add my two cents. I do not usually do this, but this topic is important to me, so please let me take some time on the soap box.
[Stands on a soap box.]
I believe health care is a right for all and though should not be government run or controlled, the government should provide health insurance to those who can afford the insane prices private companies charge. Yes, taxes may go up for some people, but you know what... stop whining and help. It is our duty as human beings to help one another. It is a good thing to help others maintain their health and to basically help save a life.
This should not be seen as something taxing, socialist or communist, but as something that is a G-d given right and duty of all of us, regardless of whoever you may see as your G-d. For it is the miser who hoards his/her money, and refuses to help others, is less likely to have others want to help them. Now of course there should be some limits as to what the government would pay for, with tax payer money. However, if you say you are pro-life, but are against this public option, then you are not really pro-life. Pro-life means you not only stand up for the rights of the unborn, but also demand that from the moment of conception, even a children have access to comprehensive, affordable health care from the moment of conception (well the pregnant mother in this case).
This means that if you are willing to support our military, you are also believe that those who serve/have served are also able to get affordable health care for their family, not just themselves.
This means, that everyone, regardless of pre-existing conditions can get affordable, comprehensive medical coverage, and not have to dish out hundreds of dollars a month for it.
Finally, this means it is you and your doctor dictating to your insurer what they will cover, not your insurer telling you what they want to cover. So stop whining about the possibility of your taxes going up and actually think long and hard about the following. Regardless of who you see as your deity or higher authority, is it not a given that said power expects us as human beings to take care of one another and do our best to make sure all our fellow human beings have access to the the tools needed to live long, and happy lives?
[Gets off Soap Box]
Thanks for humoring me for a moment, and per what I said... the hypocrisy in this country has got to stop. I was watching the news a while back and this woman against health care reform, stood up at a town hall meeting and had the gaul to demand that the American Government return to the ways of our founding fathers. Wow... someone has not retained anything they have learned about the history of the United States.
Anyway, With school starting soon, it is my last year and I am very much looking forward to it. As such I have some great news to share... yours truely has been invited to join the Nashville State Chapter of the Society of Leadership and Success, Sigma Alpha Pi. I have decided to go ahead and take their invitation to join because G-d knows I need all the help I can get to find a job.
So adios for now, and the best is yet to come!
